Educating students, parents and teachers to build an understanding on how to best use the Learning Curve Diary Planners and supporting website to assist in enhancing whole school learning, teaching and relationships.
February 2012 - Setting the Scene in Building Their Living, Learning and Thinking Power
Inducting and explaining of school values, expectations and being a contributing citizen. Establishing dominant Multiple Intelligences, Habits of Minds, Emotional Intelligence, Learning Styles and Self Assessment. Learning about study sessions, study timetable, prioritising, time management and home study.
March 2012 - Note Taking and Collecting Information
Learning how to take notes, develop writing and collect information while being discerning on the accuracy of the sources. Understanding the value of a sound home learning approach.
April 2012 - Building Relationships, Respect and Manners and Courteous Connections
Students developing an understanding of the importance of relationships and personal interactions. Learning about essential personal attributes, skills and strategies to particiapte in groups with self esteem and resilience. Understanding that it costs nothing to be polite, civil and courteous.
May 2012 - Finding and Processing Information
Learning to adopt thinking and logical step by step procedures for locating, organising, analysing and presenting information. Being aware of the diversity of resources available to them including Libraries and the Net.
June 2012 - Stress, Bullying and Tolerance
Building an understanding of and a capacity and resiliency for dealing with stress and bullying. Learning how to identify personal warning signals and the ability to instigate personal measures to combat stress and speak up against bullies. Learning to accept and appreciate a diversity of differing personal backgrounds.
July 2012 - Discovering Better Learning Methods and Teamwork
Adopting more productive and smarter ways to learn using and array of techniques and thinking tools. Understanding how their brains function and the importance of routines to store knowledge in their long term memories and how quality exercise and leisure enhances their efforts.
August 2012 - Learning About Life Strategies and Community Spirit
Being introduced to procedures that enable high quality oral presentations, adopting logical step by step approaches to problem solving and coping with procrastination. Understanding that as young citizens, they have a duty and important role to play in contributing to the growth of the community in which they live.
Learning how to cope with the ever present distractions and share their concerns when not keeping up. Understanding how and when to revise and the personal qualities it requires.
October 2012 - Performance, Honesty, Integrity and Being Trustworthy
Learning how to prepare for tests, strategies for sitting exams and best practice routines for doing so. Contributing to the school through leadership and providing positive role modelling for fellow students.
November 2012 - Building a Heightened Self-Awareness of Themselves and Their World
Raising their self awareness about diet, the importance of career planning, part time jobs, the best use of their holidays and how to build a high class resume.
December 2012 - Health, Wellbeing and Environment
Learning about strategies that will enhance their all round health, including health perspectives physically, socially and emotionally. Routines to build resiliency to ensure for both Net and Mental Health.
