Newsletter Articles

To ensure that parents feel empowered to be contributing partners in their children's education, a series of Weekly Newsletter Articles have been provided to download into your school newsletters.

All articles are in Microsoft Word and can be altered to suit your school's particular needs.

The articles explain to parents how they can assist their children's learning and development by reading and implementing the weekly and specific focuses in the student diary planners.

New for 2010 are Weekly Focus Articles

The Weekly Focus Artilces provide an explanatory article each week for students, parents and teachers. Put the corresponding article in your staff bulletin each week to give your teachers direction.

The major aim for 2010 was to align the focuses in the Junior, Middle and Senior planners. This would enable schools to adopt common whole school focuses each week and reduce teacher workload through a sameness across all classes.

There are also “How to use the Learning Curve” Guides for parents & students, classroom teachers and home group/form teachers to ensure consistency in approach for all members of the school community. These are all found on the relevant parent, student & teacher pages.

Also provided, are newsletter articles on attendance, titled "ATTENDANCE: IT'S NOT OK TO BE AWAY!". They have proven successful at reducing student absence by educating parents on the adverse effect poor attendance has on their children's learning. They are to the point and their frankness is appreciated by parents.
